A Little About Me
After recent speed bumps in the job department, I decided to do what many before me have done, and turn all of my attentions toward my passions; to stop wasting my life away in a never-ending unhappy struggle. I'd much rather be poor but happy, than rich but miserable. I have loved writing since I was a small child. When I would get grounded, the first things to go were my pens and notebooks. I was always doodling little poems or short stories; always dreaming of interesting characters from far away lands in far away places. My first poem was published in a contest when I was in the third grade and I wrote my first novel when I was just 16 (that, a few years later, went on to be traditionally published). I made a whopping $5. I was so happy that I framed it. To some that may not sound like a lot, but to me it wasn't just $5, it was the beginning of the rest of my life. Since then I have gone on to write various articles for high school/university level papers, copy-edit, ghostwrite, complete minor freelancing projects, and begin work on several new novels. My most recent adventure has been the start of my blog, Stories from a Starving Artist, that will help to document this transition in my life with its many ups and downs. Writing aside, I'm the type of person who needs to stay busy. Airsoft, hiking, camping, shooting: those are fun activities for me. Just like everyone else, though, I can have a lazy day here and there. I love being outdoors and being active but can kick your butt in a video game or cuddle up and watch a movie just as easily. With a computer set up on a small, hand-me-down desk, and all the time in the world (thanks a lot, lay-offs), I am excited to take this step in my career and to begin writing full-time. The past several years have been fraught with unexpected disasters and crippling financial hardship but all of the weight of life disappears when you do what makes you happy. ***~Be happy, always~*** |
